Over the last eight weeks, I hung out with 149 millionaires.
For a small-town, blue-collar kid from northern Indiana, that’s an insane statement to make.
But it’s not that shocking (okay, it’s a little surprising) because I’ve been obsessed with personal development and discovering the mental secrets and business roadmap for creating financial freedom and inner peace for 35 years.
Growing up, I didn’t care that much about being rich.
In fact, I didn’t think that was an option for me.
I just wanted to stop feeling scared all the time…
…scared of being rejected, getting beat up, running out of money, having no friends, being alone, getting cheated on, and feeling like a loser.
I only wanted more money because I thought those things wouldn’t happen to me anymore if I were rich and famous (which is false if you watch social media.)
I’ve never been motivated by money but rather by the desire to be accepted and loved.
However, as I grew up and experienced the pressures of having a mortgage, car payment, kids, unexpected medical bills, and the ups and downs of owning a business, the idea of financial independence became more desirable.
So I read books like The Millionaire Next Door, How To Retire Rich, Die Broke, and hundreds of others.
I also invested six figures into personal development seminars, hiring coaches, buying online courses, and participating in three mastermind groups over the last two months alone.
Here are the 3 most important insights I gained from this.
#1 – Mindset is everything!
If you think the top .05% of wealthy achievers in the world don’t need any more work on their mindset, you’d be dead wrong.
They consistently share the importance of self-development, becoming a better version of yourself, increasing self-awareness, and they talk a lot about the coaches they hire.
Every top athlete has a coach, and so do the world’s most successful entrepreneurs.
I’ll talk to a guy who has an eight-figure business, and he’s telling me about the latest mindset coach he’s working with to help him stay focused and energized.
Then I’ll chat with a guy struggling to make six figures as he tells me his mindset is already good and only needs help getting more traffic. (I used to say that as well.)
If you only had $1000 left to invest in either a mindset coach or a new marketing system, hire the mindset coach every time! It feels counter-intuitive, but that’s what the wealthy are doing, so model them.
I’m one of the world’s top mindset coaches, and I have a mindset coach.
When I feel guilty or ashamed for allowing arrogance or ignorance to hold me back, my coach says, “You didn’t know what you didn’t know, and that’s okay because now you know.”
#2 – Top business people are brilliant marketers who develop and implement successful systems.
Whoever has the best marketing, NOT the best product, wins!
So why is McDonald’s worth 137.4 billion and Burger King is around 7.1 billion when they both sell cheap hamburgers?
McDonald’s has a brilliant marketing plan and innovative system that keeps them at the head of the pack.
You can learn systems and how to be a brilliant marketer, but most don’t put in the time, don’t want to spend money to learn, or their mindset sabotages them.
#3 – Wealthy people aren’t lone wolves.
Successful business owners hire and collaborate with other successful entrepreneurs and companies.
Those who struggle financially and constantly feel stuck trying to figure out how to grow their business tend to do everything themselves.
There’s a not-so-funny joke that hits a little too close to home that goes, “If you want to go broke, try growing your business by watching How-To videos on YouTube.”
I’ve invested large sums of money that “I did not have” and “could not afford to spend,” so I can now enjoy the benefits of owning a profitable personal and professional development company.
I’ve made every mistake there is to make when it comes to running a business, and all those millionaires I met will tell you the same thing.
Yet, I’ve become a wisdom collector, grown from each error, and now use that feedback to make dreams come true for myself and others.
Over the next 120 days, you will see my business transform once more.
Pay attention to what I’m doing and then model my mindset and approach if you want a six or seven-figure business.
If you’re not a business owner, model my attitude, and it will help you accomplish and attain any goal, whether improving your health, marriage, or happiness.
When asked what my secret to success is, I say, “I’m an implementer. I put what I learn into action. I’m also a completionist. If I start a race, you can be damn Shurr I’m going to finish it!”
There are 5 powerful lessons in this message I wrote for you. Reply and let me know which stands out the most. (Then I’ll know who my implementers are.)
